Police certificate
Police clearance certificate from Sri Lanka Police, applied for from Sri Lanka or through a Sri Lankan mission overseas.
INZ usually asks for police certificates from your country of citizenship and from countries where you have lived for long periods. Check exactly which ones apply to your application.
Documents to start gathering
- Birth and marriage certificates. Sinhala or Tamil originals need certified English translations.
- Educational transcripts and certificates, which may need assessment for New Zealand points
- Bank statements with a clear explanation of where funds came from (for student and visitor visas)
What we often see
- Name spellings often differ between passports, certificates and school records. Fix or explain them before lodging.
- Family-sponsored funds for study need evidence of the sponsor’s income, not just a balance.
